Pet Toys
Pet toys are among the most important aspects of pet ownership. A pet, like a person, can get bored if they have nothing to do. And most pet owners don’t have the luxury of spending all day with their pets. So how can you keep your pet from slipping into destructive habits such as tearing through the garbage, clawing the blinds, or pulling out feathers?
Keeping them engaged in positive behaviors is the best way to prevent destructive ones. Pet toys can engage and stimulate your pets. Dogs can be kept busy with a chew toy, a length of rope, a ball, or even a sock. You’ll notice that some of these, such as a rope or a sock, don’t even cost that much. There are commercial versions of rope that tout dental benefits for your dog, but these are more of a luxury than a necessity.
Cats require different sorts of pet toys from dogs, and birds utilize different toys than either of the others. Cats benefit from scratching posts, as well as simpler things, such as balls of yarn or catnip toys. Catnip is not the best thing to give a cat if you’re leaving, as it tends to make them a little crazy. But it does make for entertaining antics by your cat, so sit back and enjoy the show.
